Founded by brothers-in-law Corey Hughes and Ryan Rust, OE Decks & Outdoor Living is built on the foundation of shared values, years of experience, and an unwavering commitment to quality craftsmanship. Who We Are

Our journey began in 2021 when Corey and Ryan merged their individual businesses, Hughes Property Services and Rust-Built. After collaborating on numerous projects and witnessing the incredible impact well-designed outdoor spaces have on people’s lives, they knew they could offer something special. That’s when OE Decks & Outdoor Living was born—combining decades of construction expertise with a vision for turning your backyard into an oasis.

Now, with our rebranding to OE Decks & Outdoor Living, we are expanding our services to even more families, providing high-quality outdoor solutions that add both beauty and value to your home.

A Family Affair

We’re not just a business—we’re a family. Corey, a proud US Air Force Veteran, has 20 years of experience in the construction industry. His passion for creating custom decks led to the founding of Hughes Property Services in 2017. Ryan, with over 20 years in corporate America, took a leap of faith in 2019 to start Rust-Built, realizing that working directly with clients to design and build their outdoor dreams was far more fulfilling.

As fathers and husbands, we know the importance of creating a space where families can relax, entertain, and enjoy the outdoors together. That’s why we take pride in every project we undertake, from the smallest deck to the most elaborate outdoor living area.

I recently had a fence installed and was impressed by the quick turnaround, great communication for the duration of the project and a quality final product. Corey was eager to get the project started and continued to check in on the progress to make sure everything was going smoothly. The turnaround was quick and the crew was out working in a foot of ice and snow to finish the install. These types of quality businesses are few and far between these days. Will definitely be recommending them!

We are so pleased with the work Outdoor Enhancements did on our deck. Last year, we hired a different contractor to build our deck, and that contractor really didn't know what they were doing, so we cut ties. We hired OE to fix the mess that the other contractor created and OE did a fantastic job! The OE craftsmen were very knowledgeable and skilled at their jobs. They were very attentive to detail and didn't give up until everything was right. They kept me informed of when someone would be coming to the house to work and they always cleaned up their tools at the end of the day. It was great working with Outdoor Enhancements.

A sincere pleasure to deal with such an excellent, honest company. Other competitors relied too much on bragging (plus higher bids) -- and Outdoor Enhancements quietly and completely explained their construction materials and techniques to insure a quality installation. (We went from a rotting 12-by-25 wood deck to a Timbertech 15-by-41.) Their quality work is apparent, even down to the detail of the optional underdeck system with gutter (as seen in one of the photos). On just a couple of questions we had during the 3 weeks of effort, OE follow-up was prompt and quickly resolved any issues ---- which they were already on top of anyway! The crew was prompt each day and super courteous. All in all, hands-down the company to go to for your outdoor design needs!

Outdoor Enhancements did a wonderful job on our deck! I got quotes from 7 reputable builders in the Dayton area. Not only did OE come just under the other's quotes, but they were the most professional!1. They came out to my property personally to do the assessment.2. They had a brochure and samples of the composite material we were interested in.3. They provided digital quotes for two different deck sizes we requested, with options to add or remove enhancements like lights.4. They handled the permits for us and provided necessary material for HOA approval.Not everyone I got quotes from provided such attention to detail.When they came to do the work they did an excellent job and ensured that we were happy with the result. Be sure to get with them early though, because they're quite popular and it may take a few months to get on the calendar. I'll definitely be checking back with them if we want work done in the future.
